Here for sale is a fantastic and super quality Georgian rosewood and brass writing slope. With a rare lock by Tompson of Birmingham with a GR George III patent stamp. Tompson's lock was patented in 1808 with an ingenious two part mechanism that moves the lock up on the first movement and across on the second movement, thus allowing the entire lock and plate to lie flat. With original working key.
The writing slope is of super quality with brass edging and original Georgian campaign handles. There is a drawer to one end which is released by the internal locking rod.
A wonderful period piece, beautifully made and brass edged for travel. The stunning flush campaign handles are considered. Perfect as a gift or to use and enjoy. Adding soul and character to any modern interior.
Condition
The leather is split along the middle. The wood where the inside catch locks in to is split so the catch no longer holds the slope in place. Shows sign of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
