A fantastic antique table. Marked by the maker, Wilkinson, Ludgate Hill. First established by Joshua Wilkinson in 1766 in London. After the death of Joshua, his son and cousin took over the business. This partnership finishes and William Wilkinson set up on his own at 14 Ludgate Hill. This is an early piece before 1825 when his sons joined the business and pieces were stamped 'and Sons'. Wilkinson was renowned for fine quality cabinet making and beautiful attention to detail. This piece as a wonderful design to the legs and original brass castors. It has a tilting and sliding mechanism. The rise and fall mechanism is missing its retaining bolt. This is a stunning period piece with a great age and design made by a well known maker. Perfect to incorporate into a modern interior to add soul and character to a space.
Condition
Areas of missing veneer to legs. The rise and fall mechanism is retaining bolt to keep it up and to keep the lectern up. Book rest is missing . Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
