A fantastic rare antique set of seven apothecary bottles. Embossed underneath in the glass the makers name, W.N Walton and 1862 Patent. Walton glass works operated in New York from 1862 to 1876. Walton's patent was for an improvement in attaching labels to bottles with a recessed section with a label placed in the recess and an identical shaped piece of glass placed on to of the label; known as label under glass (LUG). Each label has a fabulous gilt and red banding and lovely white background.
It is rare to find an original set especially in good condition with intact labels. The stoppers have ground bottoms and there are still some remains of contents. Do not drink! A wonderful set of apothecary bottles made by a renowned maker. Perfect for a collector, or to stage in a modern interior to add soul and character to a space.
Condition
Two damaged labels with some areas missing. Some stoppers appear to have been replaced. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
