A fantastic antique scientific zoological wall chart. This is number 81 of a series of wall charts published from 1877. The first series began in 1877 as edited by Rudolph Leuckart, then a renown Professor of Zoology in Leipzig, and Hinrich Nitsche, Professor of Zoology in Tharandt, and former student of Leuckart. This dates from around 1890. The first set published, whose reception was likely judged to be of some importance, consisted of three charts: one on Rhizopods, one on Octocorals, and one on Anthrostracean Crustaceans. The charts were described as "masterpieces of accuracy and scientific detail and supply inexhaustible material for laboratory study"
The topic is Echinoidea or Sea Urchins. There have been repairs over the years, but we don't believe that these detract from what is a museum quality piece of exceptional quality and interest. Perfect to add soul and character to any modern space.
Condition
Various repairs as shown in pictures. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
