A fantastic antique travel trunk. Made from canvas mounted on a beech bentwood frame by Barker's of Kensington, London. It has the initials 'B.I.M -B' stamped to the top. We believe this to be for the British Imperial Military Band. Marching military bands have been around since the Ottoman period and perform at parades and to boost morale of troops. We know very little about this trunk but it is full of history. To the leather handle is embossed POW. There are some original travel labels to the side. One is for W.W. Bell & Co Ltd, who were passenger shipping agents. With original brass lock to front, unfortuately there is no key. It has a wonderful timeworn patina and has been on some adventures. A fabulous original period trunk, full of history and perfect for a collector. It can be used in a modern interior as a side or coffee table, adding soul and character to any modern space.
Condition
Rip to front right corner seam. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
