A lovely artist easel. Salvaged from an artist studio, this easel has lots of splashes of paint. With makers name stamped to the back for 'BOURGEOIS AINE'. The French Joseph Bourgeois Aine (born 1830) opened a shop for art supplies in Paris in 1867, which featured a range of specially designed paintboxes.
Made from pine, the easel is fully adjustable in height and dates from the first part of the 20th Century. With castors for easy movement (one is a replacemnet). These types of easesl look fabulous with a painting or mirror mounted on them. We love the timeworn patina and historical reapirs, it really adds to its charm. A lovely period piece, perfect to use and enjoy.
Condition
One of the castors is odd. Some loses and lots of repairs but still sound. Historical woodworm to the base. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
