A fantastic antique apothecary chest. Made from Mahogany and dates from the early 19th Century. The hinged top opens to reveal sections for bottles caddies. Opening the top also releases the front and rear doors locking mechanism that open to reveal further bottle caddies and a bank of small drawers. Each drawer is beautifully constructed with internal dividers each having their own sliding cover.
With heavy brass carrying handles to each side and hinges to doors. This is a super quality piece beautifully made and with amazing detail. This was used by a traveling doctor or apothecary to store and protect herbal remedies and cherished postions. Perfect for a collector or storage of small items. A wonderful period piece to add soul and character to any modern interior.
Condition
The key is missing. Repairs to the rear door. The rear door does not lock. Signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
