A fantastic antique tilt top table. Made from papier mache with hand painted flowers. The top is ebonised Japanned lacquer. Inlaid with a stunning mother of pearl detail very much in the manner of Jennens and Bettridge. The partnership between Theodore Hyla Jennens and John Bettridge in 1815, Birmingham. They were renowned for producing high quality papier mache items. This stunning table has a Regency style upstand, with bone mounts. The wonderful detail to the top has exquisite flowers and foliage. This piece is a marriage and is two parts from two different tables. The base is Regency style with trefoil design and a later Victorian top. A stunning piece with a fabulous design and detail perfect to add soul and character to an interior.
Condition
Small loses to mother of pearl. Edges to top are rustic and worn. Modern bracket is used to attached top to base. Idea as a lamp table but not for heavy use. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
