Afantastic antique brass jug. It is fully hallmarked with the initials JS&S for Joseph Sankey and Sons. Sankey was based in Bilston, Wolverhampton, part of the black country, near Birmingham. Sankey started the firm in 1890, his sons joined him in 1891. We believe the jug to date from the early part of the 19th century. There is the number '4' to the base which is for 6 pints. The jug has a wonderful hue and patina to the brass. The repousse detail to the body is all hand beaten and has a lovely reptile or snakeskin design. A perfect gift or would make a wonderful addition to any modern interior to use and enjoy.
Condition
Historical repair to base. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
