A fantastic set of three framed antique book plates. Originally published in 1766 and titled 'The Aurelian or natural history of English insects' by Moses Harris (1731-1785).  Harris was one of the leading entomologists of the 18th Century. He produced the most spectacular drawings of English butterflies and moths. He was known for his realistic depictions of insects and the foliage that sustained them in their natural setting. His images have great scientific value and are beautifully hand tinited. They have all been framed in a simple frame and different coloured mount. One of the plates is dated 1785. A fabulous set of antique prints, perfect to incorporate into a modern interior to add soul and character to a space.

Condition

Foxing in places to book plates. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.

Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.

Dimensions

26 cm width, 2 cm depth, 31 cm height
