A fantastic French Empire reclining library chair. Stamped by the maker, Le Maigre underneath. The stamp says 'Brevete LM SGDG' and with the number '6290'. Dating from the 1860s and has the unique mechanism where the foot stool is stored under the chair and can be fulled out for use. The back rest reclines back for comfort. A button can be pressed under each armrest for them to be swivelled outwards for easy access to the chair. With later white chequered fabric and blue tassel to each arm. This is a rare find made by a renowned maker in France. A wonderful period piece, perfect to add soul and character to any modern home.
Condition
There is a historical repair to one leg of the footstool, please refer to photo. This has been repaired and is now pretty sound. Staining to fabric in places, especially on the arm rests. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
