A fantastic antique trunk. Made from pine with wrought iron banding, fittings and corners. There is a brass plaque to the front with the makers name for 'Gieve Matthews & Seagrove Ltd '. They were established in 1785, with a Royal Appointment. They have a rich history of outfitters to the British Royal Navy. This rare travel trunk would have been used by a Naval officer to transport uniform and attire. it has later been used as a tool chest with a saw mount to the inside lid. This is a wonderful original trunk dating from the end of the 19th century. The bras hinge inside is just great.
A stunning unique piece, full of history and perfect to use for storage or a side table in a any modern interior.
Condition
Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
