A fantastic antique Victorian uniform box by J. Hoare & Co of London. Bearing brass name plate for the maker, J. Hoare & Co Military Taylors, 16 Jermyn Street London. J. Hoare & Co became Hoare and Tautz and later were acquired by Norton and Sons of Savile Row.
The box also bears the owners brass name plate for Simpson Rostron Esquire. Simpson Rostron was a Barrister and is known for the sale of a large collection of coins in 1892. The box is japanned metal, with an internal compartment for what appears to be a Bicorn hat. A fascinating and rare piece full of history. A perfect gift for any collector or to use and enjoy.
Condition
The Japanned finish is worn in places. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
