A fantastic antique enamel sign. Advertising 'The Star, Sales Never Stop'. The star was a London evening newspaper founded in 1888. It ceased publication in 1960 when it merged with the Evening New, as part of the same takeover that saw the News Chronicle absorbed into the Daily Mail.
This sign is part of a pair we have sourced and was mounted on a wall outside of a newsagent to advertise the newspaper.
Made by The Patent Enamel Co., Birmingham. They operated between 1880 to 1960. This stunning sign has a wonderful vibrant colour and is a real statement. The timeworn patina from years of being outside is just fabulous. They make great splash backs behind oven ranges. Perfect to incorporate into a modern interior to add a burst of personality and soul to a space.
Condition
Areas of taernishing and rust. Metal has rusted away around screw holes. Weathered and worn as it has spent many years outside. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
Dimensions
69 cm width, 59 cm height
