A fantastic set of antique cinema seats. Salvaged from the now closed Athelstan cinema in Malmesbury. We have another set with the ivorine plaque for Horton Brothers of Bath. They were upholsterers and house furnishers in the 1920's which fits with when the seats would have been installed.
Super quality cast iron frames. Sprung seat and upholstered seats and back. Looks to be the original upholstery in a striking burnt orange on the seats and back rest. The arms rests and back frames are in a quality shaped hardwood and the backs in bentwood. The legs are attached together by a metal support that provides extra stability and means that the legs do not need to be attached to the floor making them more suitable for incorporating in to a home interior.
These are full of character and would look fantastic in any interior as space saving seats in a hallway or dining room.
Condition
Marks and wear to the upholstery, small splits to the bentwood on the back. Scratches on the wood as expected through years of use. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
