A fantastic antique Victorian top hat in leather hat box. The hat is manufactured by Tress & Co of London. Tress and Co were established in 1846 and were manufacturing hats for a hundred years before being sold to Christy's. The hat box has brown leather with a rich antique patina and original travel labels. It has a stunning embossed detail around the lock. It has a wonderful red quilted interior. The hat has the Tress and Co makers mark on the inside. It is a gentleman's hat of large size. A fabulous period piece, perfect to stage in a modern space to add soul and character. 
Condition
The straps on the hat box are broken and one buckle is missing. The key is missing for the front lock, but the latch works. The hat is worn to the exterior and the interior fittings are loose. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
