A fantastic antique Victorian sofa. Made from a stunning rosewood and mahogany frame, with exquisite inlaid marquetry decoration and satinwood string inlay. With turned spindles to the back, turned front legs and splayed feet to the back. It has its original velvet type upholstery and is in 'as found' condition. The original castors are stamped C&C for Cope and Collinson, a renowned Victorian maker. This is a wonderful period sofa made by a mastercraftsmen using high quality wood. The upholstery needs some attention with braid missing in places and fabric coming away on arm pads. A beautiful piece, perfect to incorporate into a modern interior to add soul and character to a space.
Condition
The frame in good sound condition. Lots of wear to the upholstery with hole on the back and the arm rest pads partially detached. Braid trim missing in places, especially to the back. The sprung seat is still in good sound condition. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
